Suicide Demo for Kara Walker
guitar tabs lyrics
disclaimer: this isn't really a guitar song, so it was kind of hard to tab. there are a
lot of points in the song where there are
little really modulated guitar parts that come in for a second and just serve to create
atmosphere. i have left a good deal of these
out. there is also a good deal of variation on the actual guitar parts throughout the
song, so keep that in mind. in any case, just
think of this tab as a blueprint to improv off. and as always rock on, rock on, rock on.
the acoustic guitar that comes in at 0:19 plays this 4 times:
E||----------------------------|--------0----0-----0--1--|
B||----------------------8-----|----------------3--------|
G||--10--7--10----7--10-----9--|--5--2-------------------|
D||----------------------------|-------------------------|
A||----------------------------|-------------------------|
E||----------------------------|-------------------------|
there are slight variations of it played the 3rd and 4th time, but just vibe with the
spirit of the song and you'll get it not
problem.
the next part (starting at 0:56) is a piano but i've arranged it for guitar because why
not (play this 4 times):
E||--3----5--3-----3--3----|--5--3-----3--5--------|--1--0-------5----1--0--|
B||-------------3----------|--------3--------------|----------1-------------|
G||------------------------|-----------------------|------------------------|
D||------------------------|-----------------------|------------------------|
A||------------------------|-----------------------|------------------------|
E||------------------------|-----------------------|------------------------|
for the next part (at 2:00), which is one my personal favorite jams on the album, slowly
fade in the guitar noodling around this:
E||----------------------------|
B||--------8--10---------------|
G||--7--9---------9--7------7--|
D||---------------------10-----|
A||----------------------------|
E||----------------------------|
there's a good deal of modulation on the guitar, but a good amount of distortion and
reverb pedal should replicate it quite nicely.
there is also a lot of sliding from note to note going on, but that changes up too, so
just listen to the recording and experiment
with different things.
if you want to play the bassline for this part i have you covered as well. just lay down
this simple little groove:
G||-------------------|-------------------|-------------------|-------------------|
D||-------------------|-------------------|-------------------|-------------------|
A||--8----------------|--7----------------|--5----------------|-3-----------------|
E||-------------------|-------------------|-------------------|-------------------|
now all you need is a sax!
ok, next part. when the vocals come in there is no rhythm guitar part, but at 2:55
there's an awesome little slide down thing. turn
on a delay and do this:
E||------------||
B||------12/0--||
G||-(9)--------||
D||------------||
A||------------||
E||------------||
the guitar for the next few minutes is really jammy and in and out. of what i could
grasp, this starts played at 4:48:
E||--5----x----5----||
B||--5----x----5----||
G||--5----x----5----||
D||-----------------||
A||-----------------||
E||-----------------||
at 5:42 we get to bust into this groovy lil riff: (PALMMUTE IT)
E||-------------------------------|---------------------------------|
B||-------------------------------|---------------------------------|
G||-------------------------------|---------------------------------|
D||--5-5-5-5-5-7------------------|---------------------------------|
A||---------------5--5-5-5-5-7----|---------------------5--3--5--3--|
E||-----------------------------8-|----8-8-8-8-10--5----------------|
then as the vocals return you just ride that G on the D string and groove on that.
come back and jam around that riff at 7:15
until the song slowly relaxes and is extinguished
