Solitary Shell Chords & Lyrics by Dream Theater

Solitary Shell

guitar chords lyrics

Dream Theater

Album : In the Year 2002 progressive metal PlayStop

I felt that the other versions of this song were a little off, mainly
because they lacked C#m and G#m chords. Play it through and let me
know what you think!

Side Note:

The Introduction and Bridge sections are slightly simplified with
the E and G#m chords. It sounds like 3 or 4 chords are played after the
B in quick succession, however the E and G#m chords complement these
chords well so the E and G#m chords are the only ones needed.

Intro:

|C#m B E

C#m B G#m | x4

C#m B G#m
He seemed no different from the rest
C#m B E
Just a healthy normal boy
C#m B G#m
His mama always did her best
C#m B E
And he was his daddy's pride and joy

C#m B G#m
He learned to walk and talk on time
C#m B E
But never cared much to be held
C#m B G#m
And steadily he would decline
C#m B E
Into his solitary shell.

B A E
As a boy, he was considered somewhat odd.
B A E
Kept to himself most of the time.
B A E
He would daydream in and out of his own world,
A B
But in every other way, he was fine.

E
He's a Monday morning lunatic
B
Disturbed from time to time.
A
Lost within himself
E B
In his solitary shell.

E
Temporary catatonic
B
Madman on occasion
A
When will he break out
E B E
Of his solitary shell?

Bridge:

|C#m B E

C#m B G#m | x2

C#m B G#m
He struggled to get through his day
C#m B E
He was helplessly behind
C#m B G#m
He poured himself onto the page
C#m B E
Writing for hours at a time.

B A E
As a man, he was a danger to himself.
B A E
Fearful and sad most of the time.
B A E
He was drifting in and out of sanity.
A B
But in every other way, he was fine.

E
He's a Monday morning lunatic
B
Disturbed from time to time
A
Lost within himself
E B
In his solitary shell

E
A momentary maniac
B
with casual delusions.
A
When will he be let out
E B
Of his solitary shell?

After the end of the lyrics there is an instrumental part played.
