My Nine Rides Shotgun Tabs & Lyrics by Brand New

My Nine Rides Shotgun

guitar tabs lyrics

Brand New

Album : 80 Minutes of B-Sides b-sides PlayStop

I was disappointed that there was no tab for this, so heres my version.

Artist - Brand New
Album - Your Favourite Weapon (Vinyl)
Song - My Nine Rides Shutgun
Tuning - Standard

*on a side note, this is the only Brand New song that ive seen not tuned a half step
down, but im sure they probably play it all a half step down. So if youd like, just
transpose it all up a fret.

Also, I know its a lot of reading, but please bare with my explanations. They might
seem complicated, but theyre necassary because theres a lot of stuff going on in this
song aside from guitar, especially the verse.

Intro

I divided this into the two parts of the intro you hear, listen to the song, straightforward enough.

Verse

The verse of this tab is pretty hard to hear and tab, which may be why there are no other
tabs for it. It seems either no guitars at all are playing for some of the verse, or
that, more likely, they are using an effect i can not seem to emulate. So im going to
show the guitar sounding part, thats hard to hear with the bass and stuff there, that
through the first half of the verse, until 0:35 ("this isnt the first time, it wont be
the last time") hits 4 times on the stressed lyrics, then after that, palm mutes until
the prechorus and chorus start. Once again, im dividing it in half, before and after 0:35
seconds.

Pre-Chorus

This is very simple. Two chord hits after a breif break from the verse, on "HAVE fun"
and "OVERseas". Listen, youll know what i mean, once again. After that, its just one
chord palm muted throughtout, starting right after he finishes singing the note
for "overseas..." Continue playing this palm muting until the chorus starts, when he
finishes singing "take my advice"

Chorus

Again, quite simple. Ive divided this one in two, the first "half" of the chorus "but
theyre marking territory, and i know a million girls who would kill to be you right now."
The second part, being the same thing, just with the chords being played half as much and
with more emphasis, the words to this half "give me one night inside of your thighs" etc.
Just listen for the timing, shouldnt be a problem. Ive shown the spacing out in the
timing in the second part, not that you needed it.

Bridge

I dont know that this isnt part of the chorus, but since its after im calling it a
bridge. This is the part with the words "and its happened before, and itll happen again."
Listen for timing, takes a few practice runs but like the rest of the song, once you
learn it its quite easy. Once again, divided into two parts, the second one with the
emphasized ending leading back into the intro part. Listen and learn.

Outro

The outro here starts off as led into by the second time the "Bridge" is played. Where
the first time the bridge led into the intro, this time there is no choppy ending and
its just rythym and then a final outro part, and the song comes to an end. First, ive
showed hwo the bridge newly leads into the outro. You do the first part of the bridge
normally, then finish off with the way i show it here. The rest of the outro is just
the normal bridge played, palm muted. Ill show it anyway, afterward. You end on the
last 3 chords, emphasized. Then youre all set.
